Josh proposed to Emily on a warm, sunny Memorial Day weekend at Skinner Winery in Rescue. Even though Emily had told him not to, Josh had trusted her nine-year-old son, Jackson, with the plan… and two days before, Jackson spilled everything on the way to school (because secrets are not his strength). She knew it was happening that weekend and at a winery, but Josh stayed so calm that by the time they left the house, she started to wonder if Jackson had been wrong. When they arrived, Josh parked far from the tasting room, sending Emily in heels up a dirt road and slightly questioning his judgment. But just before they reached the entrance, he pulled her in another direction and led her to a beautiful picnic setup arranged by his sisters, Ashley and Michelle, and his mom, Cheryl.

As they reached the spot, Josh grabbed Emily’s hands and started nervously laughing. He dropped to one knee and began “word-vomiting,” so overwhelmed with emotion that Emily barely remembers what he said—only how real and perfect the moment felt. When he asked her to marry him, she said yes. As he tried to put the ring on her finger, he laughed and said, “You’re shaking, I can’t get the ring on,” to which she replied that he was the one shaking. Once the ring was finally on, she jumped into his arms and they kissed.

Then, suddenly, the rest of Josh’s family burst out of hiding. David shouted, “Woohoo, Miller Wedding!” while jumping over a picnic table, Ashley and Michelle captured every moment on camera, and the celebration began. They spent the afternoon enjoying champagne, sharing their picnic, and soaking in the excitement with close family and friends.
